‘I Will not Resign’ Chiloba




     Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission CEO Ezra Chiloba:


Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba remains steady that he will not step down.

In an interview with a local television, Chiloba stated that he has a responsibility to oversee the preparation of forthcoming presidential poll.


Chiloba further stated that the Supreme Court ruling pointed out at a systemic failed which dates back to several years and the commission has been working towards streamlining operations at the election body.


The CEO argued in line with Supreme Court ruling that, they will have to change the way results are transmitted during October 26 election.


He said that Al Ghurair will still print the ballot papers as the UNDP preference was still in discussion but welcomes move by UN to provide experts to oversee the printing process as this will boost sureness in the process.


Chiloba furthermore specified that IEBC is investigating the source of leaked documents and those found guilty will have to face the law.


The Opposition has vowed to hold protests to ensure Ezra Chiloba and other top officials resign for allegedly bungling the August vote. 

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has also maintained that they will not attend a consultative meeting with the commission, accusing the poll agency of unilaterally making decisions.
